Exploring the Second Line of the Major Arcana: Strength through Temperance

The Second Line of the Majors is the “descent”, considered the true beginning of our spiritual journey. We’ll look at these 7 cards as a ‘walk in the woods’—a journey into the wilderness where we have some major epiphanies about how and why we are the way we are, and make peace with the inevitability of our own transformation. Think: a camping trip where you have a great mushroom trip and it blows everything wide open. That’s the kind of walk in the woods I’m talking about. But, we can do it sober!

We’ll dive into each of these archetypes in depth, but we’ll also look at the idea of dividing the Majors into 3 lines, the debate about the ‘swap’ of Justice and Strength as cards 8 & 11 and what that means for the storyline of the Tarot, and how the lessons of the first line have prepared us to meet the intensity of the second with grace.
